The uni3 BG1 dual-purpose tape is a specially waterproofed, pre-compressed tape for the airtight and driving rain-resistant sealing of window and door joints with simultaneous heat-insulating properties throughout the entire component depth.
Application area:
Based on the vapour-permeable exchange of moisture, the uni3 BG1 dual-purpose tape can be used for RAL-compliant sealing of window and door joints according to the principle of "interior more impermeable than exterior" as well as for sealing the connection joints of conservatories.
Advantages:
Sealing of all functional areas in the window joint sealing with a single product
Installation possible in any weather
Air-tight in accordance with DIN 18542 BGR
Very good sound insulation values up to 64 dB
Resistant to driving rain in accordance with EN 1027 up to 1,050 Pa
Good compatibility with adjacent building materials in accordance with DIN 18542 BG1
Rolls individually marked with usage specification of the respective joint widths
Offers maximum protection against indoor air pollution - certified in accordance with GEV-EMICODE® EC1PLUS - very low emissions
Corresponds with the requirements of RAL quality-assured assembly
Advice:
Application:
The adhesive surfaces must be load-bearing and stable. The surface must be free of dust, release agents, oil, grease and moisture and must be as level as possible; a smooth coating must be applied if necessary. Any contamination must be removed. The joint flanks must run parallel. The specifications for the joint widths must be maintained and must not be exceeded. This also applies in uneven areas. Conduct tests beforehand on painted or sealed surfaces.
Cut off the over-compressed start of the roll. Remove approx. 20 cm of the masking paper. Bond the dual-purpose tape to the window frame with an overhang (lower joint width dimension). Then separate the tape in the upper corner with an overhang (upper joint dimension). Butt join the rest of the tape in the corner while applying pressure and bond it flush to the window frame at the other end. Never place the dual-purpose tape around corners, in order to prevent leaky joints.
Butt join at the end of the roll and separate the last and first over-compressed ends in each case. Butt join the end of the new tape and place exactly against one another using light pressure. Do not bevel and do not lay with an overlap.
For the formation of the lower joint connection, we recommend primarily a moisture-variable film tape for indoor and outdoor use, such as our Vario window sealing tape (0800 500 et seq.).
The tape must always be installed without tension. If necessary, fill butt joints and nicks with a suitable sealing compound, e.g. S78 bond and seal (0898 511 4).
In case of temperatures above 20 °C, the tape must be stored in a cool place before use. In case of cool temperatures below 8 °C, the tape should be kept at room temperature before installation if possible. The expansion properties of the tape are sped up by high temperatures and slowed down by low temperatures.
The tape must have completely filled the joint before a differential pressure measurement is performed. For this purpose, it should expand evenly for at least four weeks before the test.
